Senior Data Engineer
what you’ll do.
Work as part of a team, or independently, to design and develop cloud-based data warehouses, data lakes, data lakehouses, and other data solutions
Gather technical requirements, assess client capabilities, and analyze findings to provide suitable recommendations for data solutions and a strategy for their implementation
Enhance and support data platforms and collaborate to propose enhancements and optimization processes for SQL, ELT/ETL, and analytical procedures
Design and develop scalable data automation frameworks to ingest and transform a variety of data sets
Explore, evaluate, and suggest technical approaches to address complex challenges in data development and integration
Share expertise and/or develop competency in data automation concepts and techniques
Conduct assessments, workshops, design sessions, and project meetings as needed, and execute proof-of-concepts and short-term technical consulting projects
Guide and mentor fellow team members in their efforts to develop data engineer skillsets
Serve as a subject matter expert in one of the most advanced and innovative data engineering tools available
what you’ll bring.
Bachelor’s degree in IT, applied mathematics, statistics or other relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience
5+ years experience in data engineering/data warehousing, preferably within a consulting environment
2+ years of deep experience building cloud data solutions (Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake)
Demonstrated expertise in data modeling (3NF, Dimensional, Data Vault, etc.) and data architecture concepts such as metadata, workflow management, ETL/ELT, streaming data, and data quality
Proficient in setting up and operating ELT/ETL data pipelines by leveraging cloud-native services (AWS/GCP/Azure), open-source tools (like Airflow and Python), as well as utilizing ETL and data fabric tools. Experience with Data Warehouse Automation is a nice-to-have
Deep experience with SQL and ETL/ELT optimization
Practical and in-depth knowledge of BI tools to troubleshoot platform issues
Working knowledge of agile development including DevOps concepts
Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Non-negotiable: strong communication skills in Dutch and English
