We’re hiring: Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft.

Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft

Do you believe traditional data warehouses should evolve into automated, scalable, and metadata-driven platforms? Are you passionate about modern data architectures — from cloud data ingestion and lakehouse patterns to Microsoft as a core data platform, combined with data fabric and enterprise data catalogs that enable better data discovery, governance, and integration within organizations? Join us in shaping the next generation of Microsoft-powered data platforms, leveraging cloud technologies, modern data architectures, and data automation frameworks.

what you’ll do.

Design and implement modern data platforms on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, leveraging technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, Fabric Lakehouse, and Fabric Data Factory to deliver scalable, high-performance data and analytics solutions

Build and maintain data pipelines enabling automated ingestion, transformation, and loading of structured and semi-structured data

Develop data automation frameworks to accelerate delivery and ensure consistency across data platforms

Collaborate with clients to gather technical requirements, assess current architectures, and define implementation strategies for Azure and Fabric-based data platforms

Implement modern data ingestion and transformation frameworks using Azure-native and Microsoft Fabric tooling such as Azure Data Factory and Fabric Data Factory, alongside tools such as dbt, to enable modular, testable, and maintainable data pipelines

Apply data modeling methodologies such as Data Vault, dimensional modeling, and hybrid patterns to support scalable and automated development

Collaborate with analytics, data science, and BI teams to integrate Microsoft data services with downstream reporting and consumption layers

Lead technical workshops, architecture sessions, and proof-of-concept initiatives, as well as short-term technical consulting engagements

Mentor and guide team members on Microsoft data platform best practices and modern data engineering techniques

Act as a subject matter expert for Microsoft data platforms within delivery teams, contributing to best practices and continuous improvement initiatives

what you’ll bring.

Bachelor’s degree in IT, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

5+ years of experience in data engineering and data warehousing, ideally within a consulting environment

2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, building and operating modern cloud-based data and analytics platforms

Strong experience with data modeling methodologies such as Data Vault, dimensional modeling, and 3NF, combined with a solid understanding of modern data architecture concepts, including metadata management, data governance, data fabric and data mesh principles, data catalogs, and lakehouse architectures

Experience designing and operating ELT/ETL data pipelines using Azure-native and Microsoft Fabric tooling, alongside modern transformation tools such as dbt

Proven expertise in SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning within Azure and Fabric-based environments (e.g. Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, Fabric Warehouse)

Experience with data warehouse automation platforms or metadata-driven development approaches is highly desirable

Experience working in agile delivery environments and applying DevOps and CI/CD practices to data engineering workflows

A self-starter mindset, able to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

Non-negotiable: strong communication skills in Dutch and English
